Polly's Pigeons!

Ever feel like you are going round in circles....lol....this was a fun although time consuming quilt. My customer, Polly requested pebbles like the quilt in the book but we decided on a little more.....EQS Sew Simple Poly batting, Glide thread top and bobbin in Warm Grey...42" x 60"

I am sure the quilt will be a talking point in the holiday cottage, it was designed to fit in a stairwell where it will be displayed once the binding has been added.  The pattern is from a book called Quilts Made Modern by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr.

It's a very simple design but to draw the viewer in a little more I added some additional quilting....it was a pleasant distraction from all those pebbles. Look closer and you can see a telegraph pole with wires and ghosted flying pigeons!

I was pleased to find an exact matching thread in my cupboard but was very relieved when my good longarming friend, Janette, had an extra cone which duly arrived in the post just in time. Thanks Janette!

  1. Kay -- I love birds -- what a great addition your quilting was !! Love the flying birds, the extra wires and the pole... thanks for sharing.

PS -- the original design was also very stunning -- simple but stunning....

  2. Sorry, I can't resist this. With all those pebbles on that quilt, surely no one will suggest you have rocks in your head. If so, perhaps you can show them a picture of the quilt and reassure them that they all fell out!
I love the quilt, by the way, but it's your quilting that makes it special.
