Normal transmission has resumed....

Came back to earth with a bump this morning when I realised that I had to go to my real job....
It was a long and hectic weekend, it's a two hour drive there and a two hour drive back from Edinburgh, did it three times, that's twelve hours just driving. Did a bit of quilt show shopping and managed to visit our Youngest Son before driving home on Sunday.

Quite a haul of silverware and rosettes, pretty aren't they.

The larger quilts weren't best hung for taking photos but Sunday was a better day, least I didn't have to keep apologising for backing into viewers while trying to get a better shot.

Here are some of my favorite quilts from the weekend....

This one is my good friend Linzi's Capercaillie, visit her here The Quilt Quine

My good friend Rhianon entered a great selection  of quilts

Rhianon's awards were
Judges Choice for Gecko Fabulous...
Best Small Wallhanging for Bird of Paradise.....
Best Machine Quilting and 2nd Minature Quilt for Big Fat Gypsy Feathers
That's Rhianon too with her Orca Bay Quilt, which is a Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt, isn't it fab....visit Rhianon at Nifty Stitcher

Love this quilt by Sandi Lush...Rosettes for Best Hand Quilting, Best Cot quilt, Runner up Overall Champion and other???  Fabulous! I love hand quilting!

There was a Japanese exhibition...

Lastly...these miniatures  were awesome...just look at that goldfish bowl with tiny goldfish....fantastic!

Sour Plums....

A passing remark recently made by a friend made me think of this....

It seems a strange view doesn't it....that's because it's the ceiling/roof we are looking at....

Here's the explanation....

Still don't know why it's on the ceiling?

Our conversation had no direct correlation but it still made me think of this.....

The Scotts make the English very welcome nowadays!?

Update: I am guessing it's on the ceiling to prove the distraction theory?

On yer Bike!

The 'Tour of Britain Cycle Race' came through today...barely 1/4 mile from my home and right through our land, though on the road of course. I remember getting an hour or two out of school (years ago, I mean 'years' ago) when we lived down in England, that's when it was known as the 'Milk Race' as the Milk Marketing Board sponsored the race. The signs on our road said to find an alternate route....there isn't an alternate route?? Anyway, I was at work in town so saw them there....lots of motor cycle support vehicles and paramedics, then came the bikes....

Got time to take just three photos of the bikers and then they were gone......

There was an unbelievable number of support vehicles and 'out riders....such excitement for two minutes.

On the Panel...

It's sometimes difficult to know how to quilt panels but as usual inspiration only hits as I am pulling up the bottom thread.....

You can click on the photos to get a larger image....I quilted pebbles, a bird and clouds in the sky with a variety of fills in the boxes. This quilt is a sample for my local quilt shop.....Borderland Fabrics in Jedburgh
