An eclectic mix.....

Another of Lillian's quilts which was pieced in a class with Kevin at Fabric Focus in Edinburgh. Its a simple block which when laid out reveals the Hidden Pinwheels, quilted with a digitised design named Gypsy using a Khaki Sand coloured thread...

Another Hidden Pinwheels quilt but in a totally different colourway, this one was pieced by Ishbelle quilted with a digitised design named Blooming Feather in a gold coloured thread.

This double sided quilt was pieced by Eunice. Centring double sided quilts can cause problems, it isn't always easy to get those edges to line up. As you can imagine all of those pieces need to be pretty accurately pieced for this to work our correctly and even then the layers can slide so I always tell my customers that 'I will do my best but no promises'. On this occasion all worked out well, the chosen digitised design was Gypsy using a silver grey thread....

Another quilt from Eunice, a traditional Double Wedding Ring quilt. I used a digitised design in the stretched squares and the melons in a cream thread and handguided freemotion work in the rings using a grey thread....

Long time no see....

I'm so sorry, it's been such a long time since I posted. First up, I lost my iPhone which was hording lots of quilt photos then secondly my broadband has been down for at least two weeks and still isn't up to par. Throughout all of that it's been lambing time here on the farm with all that entails...

I'm hoping that my memory serves me well, I'm sure that this quilt is one pieced by Kevin at Fabric Focus in Edinburgh, quilted with a new design named Midsummer, there are stars, flowers, moons, pea pods and swirls, It's an open design that looks great on some of the more modern types of quilts.

Hazel's quilt is a special gift for her Grandson, we chose Seafoam and lovely swirling design with bubbles for this one, quilted with cream thread.

Linda's Sliding Stacked Coins quilt was calling out for a custom design, I freemotion, handguided feathers throughout the columns with a silver grey thread.

This quilt is a special commission for Talking Quilts, it's custom quilted with feathers and continuous curves inside of the blocks in cream and various other coloured threads as appropriate.

I'll be back in a bit with more quilt photos, I know I lost some photos on my phone that hadn't been backed up but only a few and I'm sure I should have other photos on my camera...

It was lovely to have this quilt home again after being away for 6 months in the US. Subtle Differences won a 3rd prize in the Traditional section in The World Quilt Show, New England, in August last year and has travelled around some of the Mancuso shows since then being exhibited in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Manchester, New England, California, and a few other shows, I'll look them up and edit ....

Mad Monday Quilt post

A few quilts to be raffled, I'm sure this tulip quilt has already gone to a new home, Catherine was helping her Grandson to raise funds for a trip, quilted with Chocolate Leaves edge to edge in cream thread.

The Oxnam group of quilters have a bi-annual quilt show, this year it will be held at the Oxnam Hall nr Jedburgh Sat 29th April - Monday 1st May

 This is the raffle quilt for this years show made by members of the group to raise funds, I quilted it with a new pantograph design named Picturesque in a white thread...

Margaret has an exhibition of her quilt tops at Eckford Hall, nr Kelso on April 8-9th and will also raffle this Garden Trellis quilt to raise funds to help her Grandson travel to Europe to take part in Boccia tournaments, I believe this sport to be similar to Curling. The quilting design on this one is A Tisket a Tasket, quilted with black thread.

This is another of Margaret's quilts, a lovely logcabin in relaxing greens and fawns. Quilted with a more traditional design named Feather Florish in a cream thread.

February already?

February already, how did that happen?
I've been quilting up a storm as usual. First up is Irene's quilt, a simple but well executed applique block with cornerstones and sashings strips. I quilt triangular digitized designs in the corners of the blocks and followed up with freemotion hand guided quilting in the sashings and also in the wide white border, yes that's a freemotion, handguided design. White thread on the white fabric, navy thread in the sashings and cornerstones.

This lovely lilac, aqua and pink quilt in Kaffe Fasset was made by Joy. We decided on a quilting design named Surf. It  looked fabulous on this type of quilt with busy fabrics both front and back, I used an aqua thread which blended nicely.
