Any of you interested in 'wholecloth quilts' take a look at this link to Adam Cheneverts Etsy site where Adam sells his DVD ....great videos with lots of information.... 'Wholecloth Design and Execution'

It's been a busy couple of weeks...family visits, lots of chatting and quilting still to be done too. I did manage to fit in a few quilts but have still more to blog about.

Doreen's Carpenters Star 2

Doreen's Carpenters Star 1

This is Doreen's Carpenters Star, lovingly made as a wall hanging for her DS, we decided on a simple custom design rather than a panto, it turned out well, so here's hoping when it's bound it will be hung in a special place.

Jeans Bend......

I was recently privileged to be asked to quilt some special quilts, Memorial quilts for my Customer and her four children. The quilts are made from Granny's jeans. Granny was an artist and the jeans have splodges of paint, so each Grandchild had to have a bit of paint on there special quilt.

Their Mother made a wonderful job of piecing the tops utilising all of the pieces and pockets, I love them, what a great imagination.

Each quilt measures approximately 45 inches square, has cotton batting and we used Metro thread for durability.

Books 2 Jeans Bend...

This quilt is made to look like books......

Stripes 2 Jeans Bend...

Stripes 1 Jeans Bend...

This Grandchild was born in the United States of America, and simulates the stars and stripes,(guess you can tell that). I hid 50 stars in the quilt....

Windows 3 Jeans Bend...

Windows 1 Jeans Bend...

This quilt simulates the coin stones around windows...on the day I quilted this one it was a blizzard outside so I was inspired by snowflakes.

Pockets 2 Jeans Bend...

Pockets 1 Jeans Bend...

Pockets made into a special wallhanging....love it!

My Millie quilted through these quilts like a hot knife through butter, I had such a lot of fun quilting them and my customer Jakki was thrilled with the results....

Notes of Love....

This quilt top was a beauty before it came to me. My customer Anne produces lovely work, the embroidered hearts with french knots are fabulous. Anne's only request was for a feathered heart in the empty centre block

Beadboard in the borders, CC in the flying geese, feathers and then more feathers...all freemotion handguided with some ruler work.

Measures 50" x 50" Glide cream thread, simply cotton batting, calico backing...
Anne blogged about her quilt here

Meandering Feathers.....

Wow, what a fabulous quilt, longarmers are lucky to get to see many and varied quilts. It's a difficult job to give some quilts back to their rightful owners. Charlie's quilt was no exception, it was super even before quilting. This was a block of the month quilt using Thimbleberries fabrics from our Local Quilt Shop (LQS).Charlie had intended to quilt this one herself by hand or quilt as you go, but it's a big one. In the end after toying with the idea of full custom we decided on an allover feather meander. All 'freemotion handguided' by me..... at the last minute I decided to add a feather border too to give a more finished look to the back of the quilt. I think Charlie was delighted, she says this one is 'a keeper' to live on her bed....

Hobbs 80/20 batting, Glide thread in Khaki Sand which is a fabulous thread for blending on these autumnal coloured fabrics....100 x 80 inches
