While I am going nearly insane....

While I'm going 'nearly insane' with the quilt on my frame at the moment I thought I'd show you a few more of the edge to edge designs that went home recently.

First up is Anne's quilt, this design starts out as a straight set quilt with columns and rows and is then slashed through with the rotary cutter at strategic points and then sewn back together giving a quilt which is set on point with diagonal rows. Quilted with Surf by Anne Bright and cream Metro thread.

Next up is Maureen's 'row by row' quilt, this was a Quilt Guild challenge and will be shown at The Abbey Quilters Bi-annual Quilt Show in July, again quilted with surf  and silver Metro thread.

And Liz's quilt, a huge one gives the look of inter woven strips of fabric or plaid, it will fit a super king sized bed, quilted with happy times and cream thread...

I love to see stacks of quilts waiting to go home....now back to the quilt that will have me 'certified!'

An eclectic mix...

Edge to edge quilting or pantographs are an economical choice for bed and utility quilts whether pieced or appliqued

Doreen's Dresden plates are appliqued to the background blocks, the fabrics are nautical prints but who would know that, it is not at first obvious on this quilt, quilted with Surf by Anne Bright using Metro Khaki Sand thread.

Margaret's applique quilt has fused fabrics and lots of sparkly threads. the fabrics give a vintage homely feel to the quilt. Margaret chose Bush Berries, it fit very well with the borders fabrics.

Betty pieced this lovely quilt for her Grandson, I love the mix of fabrics, they give an oriental feel to the quilt. It's quilted with a silver blue Metro thread and an edge to edge called Crystal Maze, ;ove it....

A Future Irish Heirloom..

I don't usually show photos of quilts until they are safely back in the hands of their owners, this one arrived back home this last week. Angela sent me this wonderful quilt top in the post from Dublin, Ireland. As you will no doubt see from the inscription, this top was three years in the making. This quilt is the first of four, for four daughters who were all married within ten months of each other. It has been a labour of love with love in every stitch from a Mother to her Daughter and her new Husband on their wedding day. I am told there will be a few embroidery stitches added before binding, who knows maybe it will be finished for the third wedding anniversary. This will be a true family heirloom I'm sure.

This is Angela's own original design with piecing, Broderie Perse and applique in reproduction and civil war fabrics. I used a Quilters Apothecary straight edge ruler by Jamie Wallen and two curved longarm rulers by my good friend Linda Hrcka of The Quilted Pineapple, Superior Monopoly invisible thread and a selection of coloured threads by Glide and Metro. The size is 84" x 77"ish and I used two layers of wadding (Simply Cotton 100% and Hobbs 80/20), the two layers of wadding helped to ease in a bit fullness.

Thank you Angela for choosing me to add a few of my own touches to your families special quilt, the photos say it all.

Sue's Mountmellick

Aren't I the lucky one to be asked to quilt this beauty.

This is the second quilt that I have been asked to quilt by Sue, it's perfection beyond words. My own set brief was to let the fantastic choice of fabrics speak for themselves. The quilting is there more than you know or can see, I wanted it to stay in the background.

The quilt is called Mountmellick and was designed by Di Ford and featured in Quiltmania magazine in 2014 as a  Mystery or block of the month type quilt.

I'll let the photos do the talking.......

Rulers and threads used

I know way too many photos.....

Isn't it just fabulous, another quilt that I didn't want to send home to France.....
