Bad blogger...

I'm a bad blogger, there seems to be so much going on over the summer to blog in the evenings and before I know it two or three weeks have gone by. There's lots going on on the farm, sheep have been clipped, silage has been cut baled and led back to the steading. We had a couple of really warm days that were broken by thunder and lightening storms with rain coming down like stair rods followed by hail stones, the drains couldn't take the water so guess what, seepage, I can't say flooding but definite seepage into the house again.

Through all of that, I've been quilting up a storm too, these three quilts went home a couple of weeks ago. The first two are shop samples for FabricFocus in Edinburgh, Kevin sends quilts down to me in the post and I send them back using Parcelforce 48, it's a very good service, often the qults are home within 24 hours but definitely 48 or two working days.

The first quilt is a lovely pinwheel baby quilt, to keep it light and floaty  I used an open design named target, it's spirals that criss cross over the quilt surface.

This next small sample quilt uses half hexies to make whole hexagons, no 'y' seams right. Kevin asked for bees to go with the honeycomb look, I found these cute bumble bees they look fab quilted out in honey gold thread.

This final quilt belongs to Lillian who took a class with Kevin at FabricFocus. The block is 'ribbon star', Lillian requested timewarp in silver thread, a very good choice.

Back soon with more quilted goodness....

All friends together...

These quilts belong to three friends so I thought it appropriate to include them in the same blog post. There are lots of photos so as usual not many words....haha....

This first quilt was, I'm told by Anne ten years in the making but finished just in time to be gifted to a lovely young lady who has just graduated university, the block pattern reminds me of a Swoon quilt. All hand pieced. I find it amazing that some of my customers have spent months hand piecing their quilts then pass them on to me to quilt with my longarm, I always hope I can do the quilts justice .

Quilted with Metro thread in silver grey, this quilt is all custom work, freemotion, hand guided by me with some ruler work, Anne chose the option of having me machine sew the binding to the back of her quilt all ready for her to hand sew to the front for a great finish....check out the interesting backing fabric....

Ruths quilt has 144 blocks, Ruth is no longer a 'one block wonder', the block is 'carrie nation', the pattern is Garnet Trace by McCall's, I love the colours and fabrics used. Ruth chose an edge to edge design named Trillium by Darlene Epp, it looks lovely.
Quilted with Metro thread in khaki sand.

Annette's quilt will be going 'up the road' to their holiday retreat, I'm betting now that Annette and Norie are retired from the quilt shop they will be spending more time up the road by the sea. The fabrics have a nautical them with boats and sea birds so Annette and I chose an edge to edge design name 'seafoam', I love the whirlpools and bubbles. Quilted with Metro thread in cream.

And just because I have loads of photos here are some more of Anne's quilt....
