Family keepsakes.....

I was contacted by the husband of a quilter requesting help to finish quilts that were pieced by his now deceased wife. The purple and mauve quilt below is to be gifted to their Son on his wedding day, Mum will be with them in their thoughts regardless of the lovely gift received....
Often I am truly honoured to quilt for my clients!
Freemotion handguided quilt on my APQS longarm...

And for the other siblings a gift too of small applique landscapes, more memories of living overseas.....

And one for Dad too...

Moving right along.....

Aileen's bright star quilt is a paper pieced design by Jacqueline De Jonge, very colourful, you can search BeColourful Quilts for information. The quilting is freemotion, handguided to suit the piecing.....

The next quilt is a collaboration from a small quilt group in Lancashire and will be a raffle quilt to raise funds for charity. The Ladies were given instructions to make an appliqued flower block and then enlarge it with piecing to make a 16 inch square, it turned out really beautifully. I quilted it with a 'Midsummer.'  Hope they make lots of money for their charity....

And there's more....

Mary's purple star quilt looks wonderful with 'picturesque' as the edge to edge design, it's a lovely feminine pattern in lilac thread. Mary chose an interesting backing fabric, you could lie in bed and read the quilt instead of the papers on a Sunday morning......

I have a similar newspapery wide backing fabric if anyone is interested.....

We chose a variegated thread for Nan's bold star quilt and 'Midsummer' as the edge to edge design, it turned out lovely. Another bright backing fabric with peacock feathers.....

Jane's lovely trip around the world has lovely shades of pale buttery lemon, aqua, teals and greys, we chose dogwood a lovely open flowery design in an aqua thread that shows up subtly on the backing fabric....

Just over the edge.....

Here are few customer quilts with edge to edge designs, that's computerised designs that cover the whole quilt regardless of the block colours, patterns or designs.

The first is Joyce's Hunters star in a lime green with a flowery contrast, I quilted it with a design named Wood Sprite in a lime green thread.

Next is a shop/class sample from Kevin at Fabric Focus, the strip pieced blocks look like fish so I chose a design named Sea Foam in an aqua thread.

And finally Barbara's quilt, a gift for her Grandson, pieced in a quill or arrow design, quilted with a simple design named Target in a cream thread. I like an eye catching backing fabric, don't you?
