Is been a while since these quilts went home but I reckon since it's now December that it's fine to show Christmas quilts. Fiona always sends me beautifully appliqued and pieced quilts in gorgeous fabrics with lovely autumnal colours....
The Christmas applique quilt is custom quilted as can be seen in the photos with a holly type border, all of the quilting is freemotion, hand guided using matching threads....
This lovely pieced quilt also by Fiona has a feathered star centre, appliqued hexagon flowers, snowballs and lovely striped border fabrics with a beautifully warm autumnal backing fabric. I quilted it using a digitised design called Gypsy which has pebbles and feathers flowing through it, quilted using Khaki Sand coloured thread.
Margaret saw my own quilt Swooning and made her own version, I quilted it in a similar way to my own but without the stitch in the ditch and straight line fills, personally I prefer a little more definition with a puffier batting but that's just my preference, lots of my customers like this flatter look. Freemotion hand guided feathers using a curved ruler for the coloured block work.
beautiful Kay! Your free hand quilting is lovely and so nice to see when there is so much computerized quilting out there now.
