Jedhart Callants Quilt

I was contacted by Maggie who lives in Australia with a rush job to quilt this fantastic quilt that was to be presented to Gary Hogg her nephew and his 'Lass.' Gary has been a principle in The Jedhart Festival for the past three years so this year was his last year, I hear that they were both delighted with their gift.

The quilt is made from a layer cake and the colours just happen to be those of Jedburgh town. I quilted it with a navy thread and an edge to edge design named 'Surf.'
As I was recuperating after having had my appendix removed in June, Maggie got the added bonus of having a full binding treatment done on the quilt so that it could be gifted before Maggie and her husband flew back to Australia. An international effort, pieced in Australia by a Scott and quilted in Scotland by an English quilter

Now I can say I've quilted for customers in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Southern Ireland, Belgium, France, Netherlands, USA and Australia, who would have thought it?

And guess what, I forgot to take photos of this quilt, so thank you Maggie for fulfilling my request, it's wonderful to also see your Nephew and his Lass with their quilt....

Folk art Applique

Hope you are all enjoying our wonderful summer here in the UK, the weather broke with the most amazing thunder and lightening storms last night. I've never seen that kind of lightening ever here in the UK.
This quilt is bound to be a family heirloom. Joyce appliqued the quilt top for her daughters family. There is Mam and Dad with a little girl standing in front of their house, only trouble is in real life there is now another baby on the way.....

It's lovely muted colours in dusky purples, peaches, mauves and duck egg blue with a rich plum coloured border and sashing.

Quilted with pebbles, feathers and crosshatching.... freemotion, hand guided....

Ann's Stonefield Quilt

It's been a while since Ann's Stonefield quilt went home, this one has some lovely batik fabrics and is slightly brighter than the previous Stonefield quilts that I've quilted. This one is machine pieced and machine appliqued with invisible thread. All of those 121 six inch blocks, the flying geese and then that huge twelve inch grandmothers flower garden are custom quilted  with a cream thread. This quilt will be entered in the Two Person competition section at Festival of Quilt, UK in August.
There are lots of photos so please just take a scroll on down

Three from Auld Reekie....

Its always lovely to receive packages of quilts from Edinburgh.
Ishbel's lovely blue pinwheel quilt, looked beautiful quilted with 'Picturesque' and a cream thread, the design showed daintily on the backing fabric....

Kevin From Fabric Focus sent down a couple of shop samples one of which is a children's panel for a cot quilt, I quilted this one with 'Animal Crackers' a lovely design with monkeys, giraffes, lions and elephants.

I love this bright quilt, I want to call it 'pole dancer', it's quilted with 'Surf' and black thread....

A Trio of quilts.....

Here are a few quilts that went home a few weeks ago...

From Maureen and Doreen...

Firstly Doreen's, made from a Jelly Roll plus backing and contrast fabric, quilted with cream thread and a design named Florence.

And then Maureen's 'Topsy Turvy' applique quilt , quilted with green thread and a design named Trillium....

Barbara's lovely blue and cream quilt was destined for a wedding gift, Barbara requested custom work but gave me free reign. I chose feathers, straight lines and some feathered rosettes in the centre....
I used cream and blue threads to match the fabrics, it turned out beautifully....
